Problem with AIC-7895 ULTRA and Linux 2.4.15-pre4

Hello Fellows,

In trying to upgrade an IBM M/T 6889-56U machine to the latest Linux
kernel (2.4.15-pre4) I ran into a problem with the new aic7xxx driver.

The chipset was the aic7895C and was integrated on the motherboard.
I found the UHB port and the 2 SCSI channels sharing IRQ 11.

The complaint from the dmesg file was from the aic7xxx_pci.c routine
about an illegal cable configuration.

This does have 2 68 conductor connectors (one used internally, one routed
to the outside) and one 50 pin 8 bit connector on the motherboard.

If I am not mistaken I saw a long line of:
Issued Channel A Bus Reset
error messages.

I went back to the aic7xxx_old drivers and things seemed to work OK.
