Greetings,

I have recently purchased a ntel STRL2 mobo with a Adaptec 7899 onboard SCSI
controller. This works great under Linux > 2.4.2. However I am having all
sorts of problems using the new aic7xxx driver in linux 2.4.4.

The problems are:

When I try to boot of one of the SCSi disks the kernel halts with the message
"VFS: unable to mount root fs 08:01"

When I boot of an ide drive the adapter and disks are found in the bootup, but
/proc/scsi has no aic7xxx dir, I can not access any of the SCSI drives. I then
tried to insert the module "insmod aic7xxx" and it responds:

PCI: Enabling device 01:04.0 (0116 -> 0117)
PCI: Enabling device 01:04.1 (0116 -> 0117)

and then hangs.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,Dave.
