adaptec 2904CD

Due to lack of isa slots I replaced my adaptec 1505 with a 2904CD.
Connected to it are a HP dat drive and a ancient cd burner housed in an
external case.
This combination works fine in windows NT and used to work fine with the
1505 in linux, but using the 2904 in linux gives me big troubles.
The dat drive gets recognised fine, but when it starts on the burner it
just gets in an time-out loop.

This is the dmesg output:
(scsi0) <Adaptec AIC-7850 SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 0/16/0

For the record:
I'm running slackware linux 7.1 with kernel 2.2.17
and the cd burner is a 'taiyo yuden ew-50'

I tried to increase the CONFIG_AIC7XXX_RESET_DELAY to 20 but
that didn't help. Neiter does compiling in the kernel or as a module.

I hope someone has can help me,

Philip
