DVD has vanished

Hi everyone,
(sorry for my bad english)

I recently updated my Linux to kernel version 2.2.15 (plain kernel with
reiserfs-patch 3.5.19) and after the reboot my Pioneer U02 DVD wasn't
detected anymore. It simply vanished.
On startup the Adaptec 2940 (old fast-scsi-controller with BIOS 1.23)
found the DVD on ID 3, but the Linux-driver didn't detect it. There was n=
o
error-message, there is simply no device on ID 3.

I was able to track down the problem to the change between version 5.1.24
and 5.1.23 of the aic7xxx-driver. After playing with the patches, the DVD=
 was
detected with 5.1.23 in the kernel (still 2.2.15) and wasn't detected wit=
h
5.1.24.

I am no kernel-hacker, so I am not able to tell what happens between thos=
e
two versions. I would appreciate it, if anyone could help me with this. I=
t is
not pressing, because I can use the old driver, but I hope there is anoth=
er
solution as changing the card or the DVD ;-).

Attached is the information from /proc/scsi/aic7xxx/0 and /proc/scsi/scsi=
 _with_
the DVD

Thanks
Steve
