I'm not sure if this list is the right forum for my problem because I didn't
isolated it properly. If I'm wrong, please direct me.

I have a Pentium III with an Adaptec AHA-2940U2W (chipset 3860Q, I think)
and a Quantum SCSI HD.

When I installed Conectiva Linux 4.0 (very similar with RedHat 6.0) all
worked fine.

The problem did started when I installed Conectiva Linux 5.0 (similar with
RedHat 6.1). The machine do not boot anymore. Below I copyed the messages
displayed on boot.

I only can boot using the diskette created during installation.

I did tryed many things, without success:

1. Insertion of "linear" option in lilo.conf.

2. Execution of "fdisk /mbr" from Windows.

3. Compilation and installation of aic7xxx module from the older version.

4. Compilation of kernel, linking aic7xxx statically.

If someone can help but, I missed important information, please let me know.
I am trying subscribe this list at this moment. In case I can't get
subscripted in time, I'd like to receive any response at
alvaro at token.com.br, too.

I will be very grateful for any directions.

Alvaro Figueiredo.
