Hello, I have been a happy linux user for 2 years. One of the systems I
administer (a Dell model MMP) has an Adaptec AHA 2940. This card was
fully functional under 2.0.33, but now (almost always) fails to boot up
the computer under 2.0.35.

Here is the bootup output:
       Adaptec AHA 2940 BIOS v1.23

Here is an almost verbatum copy of the output generated during the driver
initialization phase.

aic7xxx: Adaptec aha 2940 ultra scsi host adaptor at PCI 10
aic7xxx: Warning: detected auto-termination, please verify driver
detected settings and use normal termination if necessary
aic7xxx: BIOS enabled, IO port 0xf800 IO mem 0xfbfff000, IRQ 10, Rev B
aic7xxx: Wide channel SCSI ID 7 16/255 SCBs, QFull 16 QMask 0x1f
scsi0: Adaptec AHA274x/284x/294x (EISA/VLB/PCI-Fast SCSI) 4.1.1/3.2.1

After this comes the scanning the SCSI bus messages. (two harddrives and
two CDROMS are detected)

Then, some messages appear once and are gone too fast for me to
remember/read. Finally, it repeats a set of error messages in an endless
loop. (excerpted below)

The error messages that repeat go on approximately like:

(scsi0:-1:-1:-1) Bad scbprt 16 during DELTO
(scsi0:-1:-1:-1) Referenced SCB 255 not valid during SELTO
        SCSISEQ = 0x5a SEQADDR=0x5 SSTAT0 = 0x10 SSTAT1 = 0x8a

This triplet of lines repeats around a dozen times, with SEQADDR
alternating between SEQADDR=0x5 and SEQADDR=0x8.

Then comes a line like:

scsi: aborted command due to timeout : pid 11 scsi0 channel 0 id 8 lun 0
   Test .....

Please CC any responses to this message to me. If any other information is
desired, please ask.
