Problems loading Adaptec aic7890 motherboard
SCSI driver with Linux

I’ve loaded Caldera’s version of Linux. I have an external Jaz
drive attached to this SCSI adapter but the drive was not
automatically detected. I have been trying to load the
aicXXXX.o module, which came with Caldera’s CD, into the
kernel to load the appropriate driver. I’ve not had any luck
with this. I’m not sure if this module supports this particular
Adaptec SCSI adapter?

I’ve been using lisa to load the module into the kernel and
when I try to install the module it fails and asks for some
?ismod parameters. How do I input these parameters i.e.
what format do I use to input these parameters and what
are the appropriate parameters for this adapter? Is
it better to load the required parameters at boot time as
boot_params?

I’ve also noticed that when my PC boots the Adaptec BIOS
is initially installed and following this a message correctly
indentifies the Jaz drive. However, after that message another
message is output which says “SCSI BIOS not installed!”.
How can this be? The previous message indicated it was
installed!

Help please.
