Well, looks like it 2.1.107 and 5.0.19 has failed for the same system.
Please advise if possible since the filesystem is slowly dying with
2.1.79.

Subject: Adaptec Failure since 2.1.80

The system has dual AIC-7870 SCSI host adapters. It's running Adaptec
BIOS 1.19S6. Oh, and it's an SMP box. The lastest developement
kernel that it will boot is 2.1.79. Everything after that up to 2.1.106
will not boot. 2.1.105 gave some elaborate errors that was too much for
me to write down. 2.1.106 with the 5.0.19 patch gives me the following:

scis : 0 hosts.
scsi : detected total.
request_module[block-major-8]: Root fs not mounted
VFS: Cannot open root device 08:01
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:01

The SCSI driver is compiled into the kernel. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
