789x Support

Hi. I'm new to this list and unfortunately, the list archives seem to be broken
(the index seems ok, but the messages are all 95/96 messages)...

Anyway, I'm wondering what kind of support is currently available for the 789x
chipset. We recently acquired a pair of ASUS P2B-DS-based boxes, along with 4
Seagate Cheetah UW2 drives. I'm hoping to stripe a pair of drives per box.

Currently, either Linux or FreeBSD is fine. Eventually, at least one of the
boxes will have to be Linux to run our Portland Group compilers, so Linux is
probably preferred.

Can someone point me to more information on the current status of 789x
development? The latest README I found regarding the drivers claimed 789x
support would be a while off (dated 4/26/98, I believe)... However, it seems
many people are having success currently with the 7895 chipset...

Thanks in advance.
