Well, I always tend to low level my SCSI drives in the environment I intend
on running them -- after they've been running there for a few hours.  That
way, the drive's internal logic and tracking information is aligned for the
temperature and EMI in the area.  "It works for me."

FWIW, SCSI disks to tend to pick up defects as time progresses.  It is usually
a few years before it becomes a problem -- i.e. it runs out of space for
remapping errors.
