Oh? There's no such 'random_enable' entry in
/etc/defaults/rc.conf on my 5.4-Stable system.
Is this a Current only thing?

Moreover, on my system, '/etc/rc.d/random rcvar'
has no output at all.
Adding an entry in /etc/rc.conf doesn't change that.

Nevertheless, I have tried your advice, but to
no avail.
