Apple has shipped some really pokey 4200 RPM laptop-oriented drives with their 
lower-end systems.  If that is the case, replacing the OEM drive with a 7200RPM 
one with 8MB cache would probably help out a lot, and only run about $75-100 
depending on the size you want to get.
